On Tuesday I was in London and got the chance to go to http://www.topdrawer.co.uk/ Since 1984 Top Drawer has been synonymous with top quality products and innovative design.
I wanted to see what was on offer and fill my creative backpack, before I head back to Wolverhampton. As per usual there was loads to see and I got real buzz from everything (sounds like I don't get out much) and wanted to get back to the workshop, quick.
I finally got to see in person Tom Pigeon http://www.tompigeon.com/. I really love their work and anytime I need inspiration I look at their work, the clean lines and simple colours give me A clear vision on what I need to do. Thank you guys for letting me take down your display, to take pictures. 😊
Seeing lush designs http://www.lushlampshades.co.uk/ was a real joy, their designs are so playful and child like, that you can only smile when you see them. Thank you guys for allowing me to smile on such a serious setting. 😊
I also got to see Granby Workshop which is a new social enterprise making handmade products for homes, launched by Turner-prize winning design/art collective Assemble. http://www.granbyworkshop.co.uk/ Very interesting work they are doing in Liverpool, hopefully watch this space that's all I'm saying.
Saving the best till last, I was shocked when I turned round the corner and I saw Ella Doran's http://www.elladoran.co.uk/ stand and there she was. I have admired her work for a number of years and only spoken to her via Twitter, with the hope of maybe doing something together. So to get too see her in the flesh and nail down this collaboration, is like a dream come true. This lady is a legend and imagine having the ability to work with a legend, who would turn that down? Did not have much time to chat but atleast we have made the real connection in the real world so this one is, to be continued......
